Remarks: During the Vietnam War,
Vung Tau became a hub for American and
Australian
and servicemen, offering a varirty of bars and recreational activities. The city's bars were not only places to
unwind but also venues for socializing
and enjoying the local culture.

Remarks:
The Badcoe Club was located right on the beach inside the 1ALSG. It has a
swimming pool and if you time it right you may be entertained by a
visiting concert group. Named after Maj Peter Babcoe who was posthumous
awarded the VC.

Note:
The Vung Tau Air Base was used by the US Military during the Vietnam
War,
stationing Army, Air
Force and Navy units
there. It was also the main base supporting Australian air operations in the
war with RAAF units and some Army.
